The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and performing account reconciliations. This includes managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and monthly general ledger reconciliations. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a team. This position reports to the CFO and supports the accounting team. The candidate must maintain confidentiality, work independently, solve problems in a fast-paced professional environment, and be flexible and willing to assist with other duties as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
General Ledger Management:
Enter Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable invoices.
Respond to external vendors and internal managers regarding all aspects of the accounts payable process, including processing invoices for payment, assigning expenses to proper projects, and allocating costs accordingly.
Verify the accuracy of vendor invoices and confirm that the correct general ledger and issue codes are used.
Process payments timely.
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts including bank accounts, and credit card statements.
Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Accounting Support:
Assist the accounting team with incoming and outgoing mail.
Maintain historical records by scanning documents.
Maintain vendor and consultant W-9 forms and assist with annual 1099 reporting.
Engage in continual learning through educational opportunities.
Work independently and as part of a team.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations.
Audit Support:
Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation.
Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
Experience & Education:
High School Diploma; college courses preferred.
2-4 years of experience in accounts receivables, accounts payable, and general ledgers.
Working knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Strong ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
